After becoming a teenage father and leaving college, Derek entered the real estate industry and began building a career from the ground up. In 2014, he started a real estate company with $500 and grew it into one of the largest independent real estate organizations in America.

His leadership journey included rapid growth, industry disruption, financial pressure, lawsuits, health crises, and the responsibility of leading thousands of people through uncertainty.

In 2023, while celebrating his 50th birthday in Europe, Derek suffered two heart attacks. A third followed shortly after he returned home. The experience forced him to stop, confront what had fallen out of alignment, and rebuild his life from the inside out.

That journey became his book, Unlock Your MVP: The Proven Framework to Master Your Mindset, Expand Your Vision, and Live Your Purpose.
